The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a spectacular high-altitude trek in the Indian Himalayas, known for its untouched beauty, alpine lakes, lush meadows, and panoramic mountain views. Spanning approximately 70–75 km, this 7-day adventure begins in Sonamarg and ends in Naranag, taking you across seven breathtaking glacier-fed lakes including Vishansar, Krishnasar, Gadsar, Satsar, Gangbal, and Nundkol.

Rated as a moderate to difficult trek, the Kashmir Great Lakes Trail reaches a maximum altitude of 13,750 ft, making it perfect for trekkers seeking a blend of thrill, peace, and raw Himalayan beauty. From vibrant wildflowers to snowy peaks and serene camping sites, this trek showcases Kashmir’s unspoiled wilderness like no other.

Kashmir Great Lakes Trek – Day-wise Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Srinagar to Sonmarg (2,370m)
Begin your journey in Srinagar, exploring Dal Lake and Mughal Gardens. Drive to Sonmarg, the “Meadow of Gold,” and camp under the stars.

Day 2: Sonmarg to Nichnai via Shekdur
Trek through maple forests and alongside the Sindh River. Cross the scenic Shekdur region and reach Nichnai campsite at 11,500 ft.

Day 3: Nichnai to Vishansar Lake (3,658m)
Cross Nichnai Pass, walk past wildflower meadows and waterfalls. Reach the stunning Vishansar Lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Day 4: Vishansar to Gadsar via Gadsar Pass (13,800 ft)
Trek to Kishansar and cross the highest point of the trek – Gadsar Pass. Descend to the mystical Gadsar Lake and camp by its turquoise waters.

Day 5: Gadsar to Satsar
Navigate glaciers and boulder sections to reach the beautiful group of Satsar Lakes. Camp near one of the seven alpine lakes.

Day 6: Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes
Trek through rugged terrain to reach the enchanting twin lakes of Gangabal and Nundkol. Enjoy a peaceful evening by the lakeside.

Day 7: Gangabal to Naranag (2,251m)
Descend through meadows and pine forests. Pass Gujjar settlements before ending your trek at Naranag. Drive back to Srinagar.

No reserved seats, first-come, first-served. You can swap seats if needed, but avoid arguing with the coordinators.
If couples are seated separately, please be kind and adjust seats if possible.
Meal times will be announced by the guide. There will be no dinner stop on Friday night—eat before boarding or bring food with you.
Shared accommodation for boys and girls (beds or mats provided). Do not expect luxury.
A basic fitness level is required for the trek.

Not all bus seats recline, especially in the back. Please cooperate.

Pickup and drop-off will only be at designated points.
Sunday lunch and food during travel are your own responsibility.
